K-Lea will be sharing with us a version of the classic “Immunity Sequence” given to us by BKS Iyengar. The poses offered include many “head down” variations to increase the physical and organic health and wellness of the circulatory and lymphatic systems where our immune response is needed. The chest is invited to open facilitating the breath more deeply and easily and stimulating the respiratory system. The slower pace of the class serves the nervous system which is able to quiet and cool down from any added stress and tension. You will experience longer holds with props to create the space and time for the mind to settle in and be quiet. It is this calming of the mind into the full experience of the body in the pose that helps us to truly restore our energy. Although some of the poses can be considered “restorative” many of them are quite active. Alternative poses will be suggested for those unable to do the more challenging poses such as Sirsasana (headstand) and Sarvangasana (shoulder stand).
Props: Be near a blank wall up to about 4 feet, sticky mat or 2, long strap, block or 2, chair, 1 or 2 bolsters, 3 or 4 sturdy blankets. Gather your props and join K-Lea for this special class.
